Purposes, data and legal bases

The operator processes account and display-name data, group memberships, invitations, package reports, pickup information, messages, notification settings and security/session data to provide Nachbarius and coordinate package handovers (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR). Security, abuse prevention and necessary technical logs are processed on the basis of legitimate interests in secure and reliable operation (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Email invitations — Article 14 GDPR

If you receive an invitation without previously providing your address to us, a registered Nachbarius user supplied it solely to invite you. The source is that inviting user. The address is used to deliver and administer the invitation and not for advertising. An open invitation expires after 30 days; invitation data is deleted 30 days after expiry or revocation.

Processors and transfers

STRATO is used for the Windows server, application, API, MSSQL database and associated backups. ALL-INKL.COM is used for domain/DNS and email delivery. Data-processing agreements are in place. According to the current setup, hosting and email services are operated in the EU/EEA. If a processor exceptionally processes data in a third country, this occurs only subject to Articles 44 et seq. GDPR.

Retention

Unconfirmed registrations are deleted after 7 days. Completed package processes and their chat are deleted 7 days after completion. Technical access, error and security logs are generally retained for 7 days; data required for a specific security incident may be retained separately until resolved. Daily database backups are retained for 7 days.

Account deletion

A deletion request first disables the account. If no package process is open, a 14-day reactivation period starts immediately; otherwise it starts after the last open process is completed. The user may reactivate during that period. Afterwards personal account data is erased or anonymised. The separate 7-day period for completed package processes and chats remains unaffected.

Cookies and notifications

Nachbarius uses only technically necessary cookies or storage for authentication, sessions, language and security. No analytics, marketing or profiling services are used. Notifications can be sent by email and, after voluntary activation on a device, through the browser's Web Push service. For Web Push, a device-specific subscription endpoint and cryptographic keys are stored; the browser or operating-system push service transports the encrypted notification. Push can be disabled at any time in Settings or in the device settings. No WhatsApp or SMS service is used.

Your rights

Subject to statutory requirements, you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability and objection. You may complain to the Landesbeauftragte für den Datenschutz und für das Recht auf Akteneinsicht Brandenburg (LDA Brandenburg).
